Ingredients

  • 450g (1 lb) ribeye or sirloin steak, thinly sliced
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 large baguette or ciabatta loaf, halved lengthwise
  • 80g (¾ cup) grated parmesan cheese
  • 120g (1 cup) shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 tbsp mayonnaise (optional, for spreading)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 200°C (400°F) and line a baking sheet with foil.
  2. Season sliced steak with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and smoked paprika.
  3. Heat olive oil in a skillet over high heat and sear steak slices for 2–3 minutes until browned but slightly pink inside; set aside.
  4. In the same skillet over medium heat, melt butter and sauté minced garlic for 1–2 minutes until fragrant; stir in parsley and remove from heat.
  5. Spread mayonnaise (if using) over the cut sides of the bread, then brush generously with the garlic butter.
  6. Layer the seared steak slices evenly over both bread halves.
  7. Top with shredded mozzarella, then finish with an even layer of grated parmesan.
  8. Bake on the prepared sheet for 10–12 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly, then broil for 2–3 minutes until golden and edges are crisp.
  9. Remove from oven, slice into portions, and serve immediately.
