Ingredients

  • 115g (1/2 cup) butter
  • 1 link sausage, sliced
  • 3 cans (15 oz each) red beans, drained and rinsed
  • 2 tbsp onion powder
  • 2 tbsp garlic powder
  • 2 tbsp chili powder
  • 3 tbsp all-purpose seasoning blend (divided)
  • 4 cup cooked white rice (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Melt 115g of butter in a large pan over medium heat.
  2. Add sliced sausage and 1 tablespoon of seasoning blend; cook for 3–5 minutes until browned and fragrant.
  3. Remove sausage from the pan and set aside in a bowl.
  4. Add the drained red beans to the same pan with the remaining seasoning, onion powder, garlic powder, and chili powder; stir to combine.
  5. Mash the beans thoroughly using a potato masher until the mixture begins to thicken, about 3–4 minutes.
  6. Stir the cooked sausage back into the bean mixture until evenly distributed and heated through, about 2 minutes.
  7. Serve immediately over warm cooked rice.
