Ingredients

  • 2 large honeycrisp apples, peeled, cored, and diced
  • 1 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup white granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 2 tsp apple pie spice
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
  • 1/4 cup milk (for glaze)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (for glaze)
  • 4 cup vegetable oil (for frying)

Instructions

  1. Whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, apple pie spice, and salt in a large mixing bowl.
  2. Add 1/3 cup milk and eggs to the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined and slightly lumpy.
  3. Fold the diced apples gently into the batter until evenly distributed.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet or fryer to 350°F (175°C).
  5. Scoop portions of batter into the hot oil and fry for 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown.
  6. Remove fritters with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
  7. Whisk together powdered sugar, 1/4 cup milk, and vanilla extract in a small bowl to create the glaze.
  8. Drizzle the glaze over the warm fritters and serve on a wire rack.
