Ingredients

  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 1 lb spaghetti noodles
  • 1/2 white onion, diced
  • 2 tbsp minced garlic
  • 28 oz crushed tomatoes
  • 32 oz chicken broth
  • 3/4 cup half and half
  • 1 tbsp dried basil
  • 1/2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1/4 cup freshly grated parmesan cheese (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Brown the ground beef in a large pot over medium-high heat until fully cooked, then drain the excess fat.
  2. Add the diced onion and minced garlic to the pot, sautéing for 2-3 minutes until fragrant and softened.
  3. Stir in the crushed tomatoes, chicken broth, half and half, basil, sugar, chili flakes, salt, and pepper.
  4. Bring the mixture to a rolling boil over high heat.
  5. Add the uncooked spaghetti noodles to the pot, submerging them fully in the liquid.
  6. Reduce the heat to medium-low and simmer uncovered for 15-20 minutes, stirring every few minutes to prevent sticking, until the noodles are al dente and the sauce has thickened.
  7. Remove from heat and serve immediately, topped with freshly grated parmesan cheese.
