Soft homemade herb and cheese bread loaded with fresh turkey, crisp vegetables, and savory deli dressing.

Ingredients

  • 3 cup bread flour
  • 2.25 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbsp water
  • 2 tbsp italian seasoning
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 lb deli turkey slices
  • 2 cup romaine lettuce, shredded
  • 0.5 cup red onion, sliced
  • 1 tomato, sliced
  • 0.5 cup sweet and bell peppers, sliced
  • 4 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 2 tbsp deli dressing
  • 1 tsp sazon
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
  • 0.5 tsp garlic powder
  • 0.5 tsp onion powder

Instructions

  1. Combine warm water, sugar, and yeast in a bowl; let sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Mix flour, salt, and olive oil into the yeast mixture, kneading for 8-10 minutes until smooth.
  3. Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place for 1.5 hours or until doubled in size.
  4. Shape dough into sub rolls, brush with egg wash, and sprinkle generously with Italian seasoning and cheddar cheese.
  5. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 20-25 minutes until golden brown and hollow-sounding when tapped.
  6. Slice cooled bread lengthwise, spread with mayonnaise, and layer with turkey, lettuce, onion, peppers, and tomato.
  7. Drizzle with deli dressing and sprinkle with Sazon, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper before serving.
