Grandma's Traditional Steamed Herbal Chicken by Chellemakesfood
Tender steamed chicken drumsticks simmered in a savory broth infused with traditional Chinese herbal soup mix.

Ingredients
- 5 chicken drumsticks
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 0.25 tsp pepper
- 1 tbsp shaoxing wine
- 1.5 cup water
- 1 unit maggi chicken stock cube
- 1 packet chinese herbal soup mix (dang gui, dang shen, yu zhu, huai shan)
- 1.5 tbsp goji berries
- 5 red dates, pitted
- 5 pieces dried longan
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine chicken drumsticks with soy sauce, pepper, and shaoxing wine; let marinate while preparing broth.
- In a small pot, bring 1.5 cups of water to a boil
- Add the herbal soup mix, pitted red dates, dried longan, goji berries, and the chicken stock cube to the boiling water
- Stir until the stock cube is completely dissolved, then remove from heat.
- Arrange the marinated chicken in a heat-proof steaming bowl or dish.
- Pour the hot herbal broth mixture over the chicken.
- Steam the chicken for 25-30 minutes until fully cooked through and tender.
- Serve hot, optionally peeling the meat from the bone for easier eating.
