Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar, packed
  • 1 tbsp granulated white sugar
  • 1 tsp flaxseed meal
  • 1 tsp water
  • 1 tbsp milk
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 4 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp mini chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Heat the flour in a microwave-safe bowl for 60-90 seconds to heat-treat it, then set aside to cool.
  2. Place butter in a small pan over medium heat and cook, stirring constantly, until it turns golden brown and smells nutty, about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Whisk the flaxseed meal and water together in a small bowl and let sit for 2 minutes to thicken into a vegan egg.
  4. Combine the browned butter, brown sugar, and white sugar in a bowl, mixing until smooth.
  5. Stir in the flaxseed mixture, milk, vanilla extract, and salt until well combined.
  6. Fold in the heat-treated flour and mini chocolate chips until a dough forms.
