Brown Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies by Bromabakery

Ingredients

  • 170g (3/4 cup) unsalted butter
  • 200g (1 cup) light brown sugar, packed
  • 50g (1/4 cup) white granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 large egg yolk
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • 220g (1 3/4 cup) all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp sea salt
  • 340g (2 cup) semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Melt butter in a saucepan over low heat, stirring until it bubbles and turns a deep golden brown, about 5-8 minutes.
  2. Remove butter from heat, stir in brown and white sugars until combined, then let cool slightly.
  3. Whisk in the whole egg, egg yolk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  4. Fold in flour, baking soda, and salt until just combined, then stir in chocolate chips.
  5. Scoop dough into 2oz balls, place on a tray, and chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
  6. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake cookies for 11-12 minutes until edges are set.
  7. Remove from oven and immediately sprinkle with a pinch of sea salt while warm.
